| 4 cucumbers, pared and cut into 1/8-inch-thick slices | salt and pepper to taste | 2 eggs, well beaten |
| 1 cup dry bread crumbs | 1/4 cup bacon drippings | |
| 1 | Season cucumbers with salt and pepper. Drip slices first in egg and then in bread crumbs. Fry in hot bacon drippings. Brown on both sides, drain, and serve hot. |
