| 1/2 cup all-purpose flour | 4 cups buttermilk | 1 large Garnny Smith apple, peeled, cored, and thinly sliced |
| 1 tablespoon granulated sugar | pinch of salt | a small bowl of dark brown sugar, for serving |
| 1 | In a small bowl, mix flour with about 3/4 cup buttermilk. The mixture should look like a thick white sauce. Transfer to a heavy soup pot and whisk in the remaining 3-1/4 cups buttermilk. Bring to a boil over medium heat, whisking constantly. Reduce the heat to low and cook for another 8 to 10 minutes, stirring all the while. |
