| 10 ozs. short-crust pastry | vegetable marrow | few crab apples |
| 1/2 cupful of sugar | few cloves | pinch ginger |
| slat, little water; milk | 1 egg | |
| 1 | Line a fairly large pie-dish with short-cruts pastry. Peel and slice the marrow and apples. Put them in layers in dish; sprinkling between each layer cloves, sugar, salt and a little water top off with remaining apples and a little ginger. Cover pie; decorate with pastry leaves. Brush over with the beaten egg and milk, and bake in a moderate oven for one hour. |
