| 1 | Break a thick slice of bread into a saucepan. Add the well-beaten eggs and the milk, then the ginger, nutmeg and sugar. Allow to stand on top of the stove till it sets. It must not be allowed to boil. Instead of the old method of using a saucepan, it can be cooked just as well in a cool oven, as for egg custard. |
