| INGREDIENTS: | ||
| 6 large cooking apples, peeled, cored, and chopped (about 2-1/2 pounds) | 1/2 cup sugar | 2 teaspoons lemon juice |
| 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon | 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves | 3/4 cup all-purpose flour |
| 1/2 cup sugar | 1/8 teaspoon salt | 1/4 cup plus 2 tablespoons butter or margarine |
| 1/2 cup chopped walnuts or pecans | ||
| 1 | Combine first 5 ingredients in a large bowl; stir well. Place apple mixture in a 2-quart casserole. |
| 2 | Combine flour, 1/2 cup sugar, and salt in a medium mixing bowl; cut in butter with a pastry blender until mixture resembles coarse meal. Stir in chopped walnuts, sprinkle mixture evenly over apples. Bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes to 1 hour or until lightly browned. |
