| INGREDIENTS: | ||
| 8 slices bacon, cut into 1-inch pieces | 1 pound romaine lettuce or mixed greens, cut into bite-size pieces | 2 red apples, cored, cut into halves |
| 1/2 cup buttermilk | 1 tablespoon sugar | 1/4 teaspoon salt |
| 1 teaspoon lemon juice | ||
| 1 | Cook bacon until crisp. Drain, reserving 3 tablespoons of the drippings. Crumble bacon. Toss lettuce with hot bacon drippings in salad bowl. |
| 2 | Cut apples into 1/4-inch slices; add to lettuce. Mix buttermilk, sugar, salt and lemon juice in small bowl. Pour over lettuce and toss. Sprinkle bacon over top. |
