Green Salad with Buttermilk Dressing

INGREDIENTS:
8 slices bacon, cut into 1-inch pieces 1 pound romaine lettuce or mixed greens, cut into bite-size pieces 2 red apples, cored, cut into halves
1/2 cup buttermilk 1 tablespoon sugar 1/4 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon lemon juice



1 Cook bacon until crisp. Drain, reserving 3 tablespoons of the drippings. Crumble bacon. Toss lettuce with hot bacon drippings in salad bowl.
2 Cut apples into 1/4-inch slices; add to lettuce. Mix buttermilk, sugar, salt and lemon juice in small bowl. Pour over lettuce and toss. Sprinkle bacon over top.
