| 3 heads red cabbage | 2 cups chicken soup stock | 1/2 cup white vinegar |
| 2 bay leaves, crushed | 1/2 cup brown sugar | 1/2 stick (1/8 pound) butter |
| salt and pepper to taste | ||
| 1 | Chop up the red cabbage, being careful to remove the cores. Place in a kettle, and add the remaining ingredients. Simmer this for 1 hour or longer, or until the cabbage is sweet and tender. |
