| INGREDIENTS: | ||
| 2 cups sifted flour | 1 teaspoon baking soda | 1/2 teaspoon salt |
| 3 ounces (squares) chocolate | 1-1/2 cups milk | 1-1/2 cups sugar |
| 1/2 cup shortening | 2 eggs, beaten | 1 teaspoon vanilla |
| 1 | Sift flour, soda and salt together. Melt chocolate in double boiler; add 1/2 cup sugar and 1/2 cup milk; cook until thickened, stirring constantly. Cool. Cream shortening with remaining 1 cup sugar until fluffy. Add eggs and beat. Stir in chocolate mixture. Add flour alternately with remaining 1 cup milk and vanilla. Pour into greased paper-lined (9-1/2-inch) tube pan and bake in moderate oven (350 F.) 1 hour and 10 minutes. Serve with Ice Cream Sauce. |
