| INGREDIENTS: | ||
| 1/2 lb. self-raising flour | 2 ozs. butter or margarine | 3 ozs. sugar |
| 1/4 teaspoonful salt | a pinch of ground nutmeg | 1 level teaspoonful of bicarbonate of soda |
| 2 eggs | 1/2 pint of sour milk | |
| 1 | Rub butter into flour. Add salt, ground nutmeg and sugar. Mix well together. Beat eggs and add to the flour. Dissolve the bi-carbonate of soda in the sour milk. Stir until it effervesces and add to the mixture. Drop from a dessertspoon on to well-greased bakestone and bake light brown on both sides. Serve hot, piled high and buttered. |
