| 1/2 pound black-eyed peas, soaked for 4 hours and drained | 2 stalks celery | 1 yellow onion, peeled and chopped |
| 1 teaspoon crushed red pepepr flakes | salt and pepper to taste | 1/2 pound smoked ham, cubed |
