| INGREDIENTS: | ||
| 10 ozs flour | 4 ozs lard | 3 ozs sugar |
| 1 egg | 1/2 teaspoonful bicarbonate of soda | 1 tablespoonful of treacle |
| pinch of mixed spice and ginger | 4 ozs dried fruit | 1 cup of milk |

| 1 | Cream the sugar and fat. Mix in the egg and add the remainder of the ingredients, having dissolved the bicarbonate of soda in the milk. Bake in a greased tin for about 3/4 hour in a moderately hot oven. |
