Old-Fashioned Chocolate Cake

INGREDIENTS:
3/4 cup butter or margarine, softened 1-2/3 cups sugar 3 eggs
1 tablespoon vanilla extract 2 cups all-purpose flour 2/3 cup cocoa
1-1/4 teaspoons baking soda 1/4 teaspoon baking powder 1 teaspoon salt
1-1/3 cups water



1 Heat oven to 350 F. Grease and flour rectangular pan, 13x9x2 inches. In large mixer bowl combine butter, sugar, eggs and vanilla. Beat on high speed 3 minutes. Combine flour, cocoa, baking soda, baking powder and salt; add alternately with water to creamed mixture. Blend just until combined. Pour into prepared pan. Bake 35 to 40 minutes or until wooden pick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool completely. Frost with One-Bowl Buttercream Frosting.
2 NOTE: Cake can be baked in 2 greased and floured round pans, 9x1-1/2 inches. Bake at 350 F. for 30-35 minutes or until cake tests done.
