Betty Freeman's Oat Pecan Pralines

INGREDIENTS:
1 cup (2 sticks) butter or margarine, softened 1-1/4 cups firmly packed brown sugar 2 eggs
2 tablespoons molasses 1 teaspoon maple flavoring 1-1/4 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda 2-1/2 cups oats (quick or old-fashioned, uncooked) 1 cup pecans, coarsely chopped
3/4 cup pecan halves (about 48 halves)



1 In large mixer bowl, beat butter and brown sugar until light and fluffy. Beat eggs, molasses and maple flavoring.
2 Add combined flour and baking soda; mix well. Stir in oats and chopped nuts; mix well.
3 Cover dough; chill at least 1 hour.
4 Heat oven to 350 degrees. Lightly grease cookie sheets.
5 Shape dough into 1-inch balls. Place 3 inches apart on prepared cookie sheets. Flatten each ball by pressing a pecan half in center.
6 Bake 10 to 12 minutes, until deep golden brown. Immediately remove to wire rack; cool completely.
