| INGREDIENTS: | ||
| 4 ozs plain flour | 2 ozs sugar | 2 eggs (or 1 egg and a little milk) |
| 2 ozs butter or margarine | good teaspoonful of baking powder | |
| 1 | Cream the butter and sugar, mix the flour and baking powder and add the beaten eggs and flour alternately. Divide into two sandwich tins and bake in a hot oven for 12-15 minutes. Have some butter already softened and spread as thickly as possible on the two halves. Then put the two halves together. Sprinkle the top with sugar. Currants and raisins can be added if desired. This is an excellent cake when butter is plentiful. |
