| INGREDIENTS: | ||
| 1/2 lb flour | 2-3 ozs fat (butter, margarine or lard) | 1-2 ozs sugar |
| 1 egg (optional) | 1/4 teaspoonful salt | 1/2 teaspoonful bicarbonate of soda |
| 1-2 ozs currants | buttermilk or milk | |
| 1 | Rub the fat into the flour and salt. Add the dry ingredients and mix well. Add the milk to make a soft dough and turn on a floured board. Shape into a round and roll to about 1/2 inch thick. Bake both sides on a hot girdle. Should be eaten well buttered. |
