| INGREDIENTS: | ||
| 1/2 cup shortening | 1-1/3 cups sugar | 3/4 teaspoon vanilla extract |
| 4 egg whites | 2/3 cup milk | 2-1/4 cups cake flour |
| 3 teaspoons baking powder | 1/2 teaspoon salt | orange or chocolate icing |
| 1 | Combine the shortening, sugar and extract; and cream until fluffy. When blended add the flour egg whites, one at a time creaming them in without beating them. Then add the milk; and finally fold in the cake flour sifted with the baking powder and salt. Transfer to a good-sized oiled pan; and bake forty minutes in a moderately hot oven, 350 to 375 degrees F. Cool and cover with icing. |
