Make a syrup of sugar and water, according to recipe, adding the butter while cooking. Cool and add 1 cup orange juice; mix the remaining 1/2 cup with the flour to a smooth paste; add to syrup. Beat eggs yolks and whites slightly, add to first mixture, and strain several times. Pour into greased custard cups, set in a pan containing 1 inch of hot water, and bake for 1/2 hour at 375 degrees, or until set. You may put a pitted cooked prune in the bottom of each custard cup before pouring in the mixture, if you wish. |
