Cheddar Almond Muffins

INGREDIENTS:
TOPPING: 2 tablespoons butter, melted 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce 1/2 teaspoon garlic salt
1/3 cup chopped blanched slivered almonds MUFFINS: 2 cups sifted all-purpose flour 1/4 cup sugar
1 tablespoon baking powder 1 teaspoon salt 3/4 cup (3 ounces) shredded cheddar cheese
1 cup milk 1 egg 3 tablespoons butter, melted



1 To make topping: In bowl, blend together butter, Worcestershire sauce and garlic salt. Stir in almonds; set aside.
2 To make muffins: In large bowl, sift together flour, sugar, baking powder and salt. Stir in cheese. In small bowl, beat together milk and egg; stir in remaining butter. Add to dry ingredients just until moistened, about 25 stokes. Spoon into buttered muffin cups, filling 2/3 full. Sprinkle about 1 teaspoon of the almond mixture over each muffin, pressing almonds into batter slightly. Bake in preheated 400 F. oven 20 to 25 minutes or until golden brown. Remove from muffin cups; serve warm.
