Meat Loaf with Glazed Onions

INGREDIENTS:
1 pound ground lean beef 1/2 pound ground lean pork 1 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon pepper 1/2 cup catsup 1/2 cup finely chopped onion
1 egg 1/4 cup milk 1/4 cup fine dry bread crumbs
8 medium-sized onions, peeled 1/4 teaspoon salt 1 tablespoon sugar



1 Heat oven to 350 F. Work together beef, pork, the 1 teaspoon salt, pepper, catsup, onion, egg, milk and crumbs. Shape into a loaf; place in a 1-1/2 quart shallow baking dish. Arrange onions in a 1-quart casserole. Sprinkle with 1/4 teaspoon salt. Cover onions. Bake meat loaf and onions 1 hour. Remove both from oven. Sprinkle onions with sugar. Return to oven, uncovered, for 5 minutes. Arrange meat and onions on warm serving platter.
