| 1/2 lb flour (plain) | 6 ozs moist sugar | 4 ozs butter |
| rind of 1/2 lemon | 1 egg | 1/4 pint milk |
| 1 teaspoonful baking-powder | 2 teaspoonfuls carraway seeds | little grated nutmeg |
| 1 | Rub butter into flour, mix all dry ingredients together and then stir in the milk and beaten egg. Bake in a greased cake tin lined with buttered paper, in a moderate oven for one hour. |
