Remove crust from bread. Cut 6 slices of bread into small cubes, and place in a greased 13x9x2-inch baking dish. Sprinkle with 3 cups cheddar cheese; top with diced ham. Arrange remaining 6 slices of bread over ham. Combine eggs, milk, onion, salt, and mustard in a small mixing bowl; beat well. Pour egg mixture over bread slices. Cover and chill at least 6 hours. Bake, uncovered, at 325 F. for 1 hour and 10 minutes. Remove from oven, and top with remaining 1 cup cheddar cheese. Bake an additional 5 minutes or until cheese melts. Let stand 10 minutes; cut into squares, and serve immediately. |
