Prepare grill; heat until coals are ash white. |

Remove papery skin from outside of each bulb without separating cloves. Cut off top 1/2 inch of each garlic bulb. |

Place garlic bulbs in rectangle of heavy-duty aluminum foil. Drizzle with oil; sprinkle with thyme, salt and pepper. Bring edges of foil up to center; tightly seal top and sides. |

Place foil packet on grill. Grill until garlic is fork tender (30 to 35 minutes). |

Carefully separate cloves; squeeze out pulp. Spread on bread or use as coating for meats and vegetables. |
