Strawberry Ripple Coffee Cake

INGREDIENTS:
2/3 cup butter or margarine, room temperature 2/3 cup sugar 2 cup sugar
2 cup all-purpose flour 2 large eggs 2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt 1/2 teaspoon baking soda 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg 2/3 cup buttermilk 1/3 cup strawberry jam



1 Beat butter and sugar in large mixer bowl until light and fluffy. Add 3/4 cup of the flour; mix slowly just until mnixture forms coarse crumbs. Remove 2/3 cup of the crumb mixture and reserve.
2 Add eggs, baking powder, salt, baking soda, cinnamon and nutmeg to remaining mixture in bowl; beat until smooth. Add remaining 1-1/4 cups flour 1/2 at a time, alternating with buttermilk, beating until smooth after each addition.
3 Spread batter in greased 9x9x2-inch pan. Drop jam by teaspoons onto batter; pull knife through batter to give marbled effect. Sprinkle reserved crumb mixture on top.
4 Bake in preheated 350 F. oven until wooden pick inserted into center is withdrawn clean, 30 to 35 minutes. Serve warm.
