INGREDIENTS:
2/3 cup shortening 1-1/2 cups self-rising flour 2/3 cup buttermilk



1 Cut shortening into flour with a pastry blender until mixture resembles coarse meal. Add buttermilk, stirring with a fork until dry ingredients are moistened. Turn dough out onto a lightly floured surface, and lightly knead 4 or 5 times.
2 Roll dough out to 1/2-inch thickness, and cut with a 1-1/2 inch biscuit cutter. Place biscuits on a lightly greased baking sheet; bake at 425 F for 12 minutes or until golden brown.
