Kadayif with Cream

INGREDIENTS:
FILLING: 7 C half-and-half 1 C cornstarch 1/4 C sifted powdered sugar
1/2 tsp orange blossom water 1/2 tsp rose water 1/2 tsp Greek mastic, crushed
KADAYIF: 1 pkg kadayif 1/2 C unsalted butter or margarine, melted and slightly cooled



1 FILLING: To prepare filling, combine half-and-half, cornstarch, powder sugar, orange blossom and rose waters in large pan. Place over medium-low heat and cook, stirring constantly, until thickened and creamy. Add mastic and stir until dissolved and well combined.
2 KADAYIF: To prepare kadayif, loosen and separate strands and cut into 3 to 4" pieces. Place in large bowl. Sprinkle with butter and mix with nads until strands are evenly coated. Divide dough in half. Spread half in lightly buttered pan. Press down gently with hand to even surface. Spoon filling evenly over top. Cover with remaining kadayif and press down gently with hand to even surface. Bake at 375 F. 45 minutes or until golden brown.
