Saucy Oven-Barbecued Steak

INGREDIENTS:
2 pounds boneless round steak 1 tablespoon vegetable oil 3/4 cup catsup
1/2 cup water 1/2 cup cider vinegar 1 tablespoon brown sugar
1 tablespoon prepared mustard 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce 1/2 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon pepper



1 Trim excess fat from round steak, and cut steak into serving-size pieces. Heat 1 tablespoon vegetable oil in a large heavy skillet; add steak, and brown evenly on both sides. Transfer steak to a 2-quart shallow baking dish.
2 Combine remaining ingredients, stirring well; pour over steak. Cover and bake at 325 F for 1-1/2 hours or until tender.
