| 4 cups all purpose flour | 1/4 cup sugar | 2 tablespoons baking powder |
| 2 teaspoons salt | 3/4 cup (1-1/2 sticks) chilled unsalted butter, cut into small pieces | 1-1/2 cups (or more) chilled buttermilk |
| 1/4 cup finely chopped green onions | 1 large egg, beaten to blend (for glaze) | |
| 1 | Preheat oven to 425 F. Whisk first 4 ingredients in large bowl to blend. Add butter and rub in with fingertips until mixture resembles coarse meal. Add 1-1/2 cups buttermilk and onions and stir until moist clumps form, adding more butermilk by tablespoonfuls if dough is dry. Gather dough together; divide in half. Flaten each half to 3/4-inch thickeness. Using 2-inch-diameter cutter, cut out biscuits. Gather excess dough; pat to 3/4-inch thickness and cut out more biscuits. Place on ungreased baking sheets and brush each with glaze. |
| 2 | Bake bisuits until cooked through and golden brown on top, about 16 minutes. |
