Coconut Pears (Perinhas de Coco)

INGREDIENTS:
4 egg yolks 2 cups sugar 2 cups freshly grated coconut
1 egg white 24 almonds



1 Mix egg yolks, sugar, coconut, and egg white, and cook over low heat, stirring constantly, until mixture pulls away from the sides of the pan. Let the mixture stand for 1 day. Moisten your hands in egg white and make small pear-shaped candies, put them on a greased cooky sheet, and bake for 20 to 25 minutes at 300 degrees. Stick an almond on top of each for "stem."
