Separate and wash each leaf of cabbage carefully, and cook in water with 1 teaspoon salt. Make a refogado of 2 tablespoons butter, 1 onion chopped, garlic, and 1 teaspoon salt. Add the ground beef and cook for 5 minutes. Place spoons of this mixture in center of each leaf, roll up, and tie with a string or fasten with toothpicks. Simmer 35 to 40 minutes in a sauce made of the other onion, chopped, the tomatoes, 1 teaspoon salt, pepper, and 1/2 cup water. When cooked, remove from sauce, remove thread or toothpicks carefully, and thicken the sauce with flour. pour over the stuffed cabbage leaves and sprinkle with grated cheese. |
