Old-Fashioned Lemonade

INGREDIENTS:
8 lemons, 1 sliced thin 1-1/2 cups sugar 3 cups hot water
1 quart cold water



1 Cover half of the sliced lemon with sugar; reserve the remainder for later use as a garnish. Squeeze the 7 remaining lemons, straining seeds from juice. Add juice to sliced lemons in the bowl. Cover with 3 cups of hot water. Do not stir. Allow to cool at room temperature. Transfer to a serving container; add the cold water. Adjust flavor to personal taste. Chill, and serve in frosted glasses over ice. Garnish with reserved fresh lemon sliced. (To Frost glasses, set them on a tray in the freezer compartment until covered with frost. Then dip rims in sugar and fill with lemonade or return unfilled glasses to the freezer for sugar to firmly set.)
