| 16 heads lettuce | 1 tablespoon salt | 1 cup meat gravy |
| 3 tablespoons butter | 2 tablespoons bread crumbs | |
| 1 | Remove the outer green leaves from the lettuce and wash the hands thoroughly. Cook in ample boiling water with salt for 1/4 hour. Drain well and place in baking dish. Cover with the gravy, dot with butter, and sprinkle with the bread crumbs. Heat in moderate oven (350 F.) for about 15 minutes. |
