Caramelized Honey with Star Anise

INGREDIENTS:
4 cups honey 8 whole star anise 1 cup sweet dessert wine (such as Quady Winery Essensia)



1 Bring honey and 4 star anise to boil in heavy large saucepan. Reduce heat to medium-low and simmer until honey is thickened and deep brown color, stirring occasionally, about 35 minutes. Pour honey into medium bowl. Mix in wine and cool. Place 1 star anise in each of flour 1-cup gift jars. Divide honey and cooked star anise among jars. Seal tightly. Let stand at least 1 day at room temperature.
