| INGREDIENTS: | ||
| 3/4 cup firmly packed brown sugar | 1/2 cup sugar | 1/2 cup margarine or butter, softened |
| 1/2 cup shortening | 1-1/2 teaspoons vanilla | 1 egg |
| 1-3/4 cups all purpose or unbleached flour | 1 teaspoon baking soda | 1/2 teaspoon salt |
| 6 oz pkg (1 cup) semi-sweet chocolate chips | 1/2 cup chopped nuts or sunflower nuts, if desired | |
| 1 | Heat oven to 375 F. In large bowl, beat brown sugar, sugar, margarine and shortening until light and fluffy. Add vanilla and egg; beat well. Lightly spoon flour into measuring cup; level off. Add flour, baking soda and salt; mix well. Stir in chocolate chips and nuts. Drop by teaspoons 2 inches apart onto ungreased cookie sheets. Bake at 375 F. for 8 to 10 minutes or until light golden brown. Cool 1 minute; remove from cookie sheets. |
