INGREDIENTS:
1 lb ground beef 3 Tbs lard or vegetable oil 1 small onion, chopped very fine
1 clove garlic, mashed 1/2 tsp marjoram 2 tbs fresh parsley, chopped
1 french roll 1/3 cup milk 1 egg

1 In a medium-sized bowl, tear the roll into fairly small pieces, pour on the milk, and let the bread soak for a few minutes. Mix in the ground beef, onion, and garlic. Sprinkle on the marjoram and parsley and season well with salt and freshly ground black pepper. Break in the egg and mix all the ingredients together well.
2 Using your hands, take a small handfull of the meat mixture and form it into a round burger shape. Once all the patties have been made, heat half the lard or oil in a large frying pan on medium. When hot, put in as many of the burgers as will fit comfortably. Fry on both sides till golden brown and cooked all the way through, about 8 minutes per side. Serve with boiled potatoes and a vegetable such as green beans.
