Fried Chicken

INGREDIENTS:
1 broiler chicken 1 tsp salt 1-1/2 cups flour
salt to taste pepper to taste paprika to taste
1-1/2 cups shortening



1 Wash chicken thoroughly. Soak in bowl of cold water, with 1 tsp salt dissolved in it, for 20 minutes.
2 Drain chicken. Cut into pieces.
3 Season flour with salt, pepper, and paprika.
4 Heat shortening in frying pan.
5 Dredge chicken in flour and place in hot oil. Cook until golden brown on both sides, about 30-40 minutes total.
6 Remove to plate covered with paper towels to drain.
