| INGREDIENTS: | ||
| 1 cup uncooked brown rice | 3 tablespoons vegetable oil | 1 large onion, chopped (1 cup) |
| 2 envelopes instant beef broth | 1 teaspoon salt | 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin |
| 1/8 teaspoon pepper | 3 cups water | |
| 1 | Saute rice, stirring constantly, in vegetable oil until toasted in a large frying pan; remove and set aside. Stir onion into pan; saute until soft. |
| 2 | Stir in remaining ingredients; heat to boiling; return rice; cover. |
| 3 | Simmer 1 hour and 15 minutes, or until rice is tender and liquid is absorbed. Fluff rice with a fork before serving. |
