Creamy Macaroni and Cheese

INGREDIENTS:
1/2 pound elbow macaroni 1 small onion, grated 2 tablespoons butter or margarine
2 tablespoons instant-type flour 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce 1/2 teaspoon salt
2-1/2 cups milk 1 package (8 ounces) process sharp Cheddar cheese, grated 1 cup buttered bread crumbs



1 Stir macaroni into a big pan of boiling salted water; cook, stirring often, just until tender; drain.
2 Spoon macaroni into an 8-cup baking dish. Make sauce. Blend onion, butter or margarine, flour, seasonings, milk and cheese in a saucepan. Cook, stirring constantly until sauce thickens and boils 1 minute. Pour over macaroni, then mix in.
3 Sprinkle buttered bread crumbs in a ring on top. (To fix, crumble 2 slices bread; toss with 1 tablespoon melted butter or margarine.) Bake in moderate oven (350 F) 30 minutes, or until center is bubbly-hot and crumbs are toasty-golden.
