Orange Cookies

INGREDIENTS:
2 c sugar 1 c Crisco 3 eggs
2 tsp baking powder 4 c sifted flour 1 c buttermilk or sour milk
1 tsp soda dissolved in milk 2 Tbsp grated orange rind 2 Tbsp orange juice
ORANGE ICING: 1 Tbsp orange juice 1 tsp orange rind 1/4 tsp salt
1 Tbsp Crisco or oleo 1 c powdered sugar



1 Cream Crisco and sugar; add eggs and beat until smooth. Sift flour and baking powder together and add to cream mixture along with orange rind and juice, and sour milk; mix well. Drop from tablespoon on greased cookie sheet.
2 Bake at 350 degrees. Frost with orange frosting while cookies are still warm.
3 ORANGE ICING: Blend orange juice and rind with Crisco; stir in sugar and salt. Beat until smooth. Frost cookie while they are still warm.
