Cocoa Cherry Drops

INGREDIENTS:
1/2 cup plus 2 tablespoons butter or margarine 1 cup sugar 1 egg
1 teaspoon vanilla 1-1/4 cups unsifted all-purpose flour 6 tablespoons cocoa
1/2 teaspoon baking soda 1/2 teaspoon salt 1 cup chopped maraschino cherries well drained
1/2 cup chopped nuts



1 Cream butter and sugar in large mixer bowl. Add egg and vanilla; blend well. Combine flour, cocoa, baking soda and salt; blend into creamed mixture. Stir in chopped cherries and nuts. Drop by rounded teaspoonfuls onto ungreased cookie sheet; garnish with candied cherries or walnut pieces, if desired. Bake at 350 for 10 to 12 minutes or until set.
