| 8 cups halved hulled strawberries (about 2 pounds) | 1/3 cup sugar | 1/2 cup dry red wine |
| 2 8-ounce containers (about) creme fraiche or sour cream | fresh mint sprigs | |
| 1 | Combine strawberries and sugar in large bowl; toss to coat evenly. Mix in wine. Let stand until sugar dissolves and syrup forms, tossing occasionally, at least 1 hour and up to 2 hours. |
