| 6 medium-sized tomatoes | 1/2 cup (or more) thinly sliced or diced canned California green chiles (seeds and pith removed) or fresh chiles (peeled) | 1/3 cup minced onion |
| 1 teaspoon salt | minced canned jalapeno chiles (or other hot chiles) to taste | |
