Valley Raisin Dessert Sauce

INGREDIENTS:
1/2 cup raisins 1/2 cup dark rum 1/2 cup sugar
1/4 cup water 1 (2-1/2-inch) stick cinnamon, broken in half 1/2 cup chopped pecans
1 tablespoon grated lemon rind 1 tablespoon grated orange rind 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract



1 Combine raisins and rum in a small bowl; set aside.
2 Combine sugar and water in a heavy saucepan, stirring well; add cinnamon. Bring to a boil over medium heat; boil 2 minutes. Stir in raisin mixture; reduce heat, and cook 5 minutes. Remove from heat; stir in pecans, lemon and orange rind, and vanilla. Serve sauce warm or cold over ice cream or pound cake.
