| 1 cup butter or margarine, softened | 1 cup sugar | 1 egg |
| 1 teaspoon almond extract | 2-1/4 cups all-purpose flour | 1-1/2 teaspoons baking powder |
| 1/2 teaspoon salt | 1 cup slivered blanched almonds, finely chopped | |
| 1 | Cream butter; gradually add sugar, beating well at medium speed of an electric mixer. Add egg and almond extract; beat well. Combine flour, baking powder, and salt; add to creamed mixture, beating well. Stir in almonds. |
| 2 | Chill dough 15 minutes. Shape dough into three 6-inch rolls; wrap in wax paper, and chill at least 3 hours. Unwrap rolls, and cut into 1/4-inch slices; place on ungreased cookie sheets. Bake at 350 F for 12 to 15 minutes or until lightly browned. Cool on wire racks. |
