| INGREDIENTS: | ||
| 3 cups flour 750g | 1/2 to 1 tsp salt 2ml | 3 tsps baking powder (level) 10 ml |
| 1-1/2 tblsps shortening 15 ml | 1-1/2 cup water 375ml | vegetable oil for deep or shallow frying |
| 1 | Sift flour in mixing bowl. Add baking powder and salt. |
| 2 | Cut shortening into flour. |
| 3 | Add water to make a soft but not sticky dough. |
| 4 | Knead lightly on floured board. |
| 5 | Cut into rounds. Let rest for 30 minutes or more. |
| 6 | Flatten and cut each round in 4-6 pieces. |
| 7 | Heat frying pan. Add fat. |
| 8 | Fry on each side until golden brown. Serve hot. Good for breakfast. |
