Southern Cooked Green Peas

INGREDIENTS:
3 cups shelled, fresh green peas, cleaned (about 3 lbs unshelled) 1 cup water 1/4 lb salt pork
1/2 tsp salt 2 Tbsp butter, optional



1 Combine green peas, water, salt pork, and salt in a small saucepan. Bring to a boil.
2 Reduce heat. Cover and simmer 25 minutes, or until peas are tender. Drain.
3 Add butter, if desired, and toos lightly.
