Carrie's Irish Oatmeal Bread

INGREDIENTS:
3 cups flour 1-1/4 cups quick-cook oatmeal 1-1/2 tablespoons baking powder
1 tablespoon salt 1 egg 1-1/2 cups milk
1/4 cup honey 1 tablespoon margarine



1 Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Grase generously a 9x5x3-inch loaf pan. In a large bowl, combine flour, oatmeal, baking powder and salt; stir lightly to blend. In a medium bowl and with a rotary beater, beat egg and milk together. Beat in honey. Pour into flour mixture all at once. Stir with a wooden spoon just until dry ingredients are moistened; mixture will apear lumpy. Spread batter into prepared pan. Bake 1 hour and 15 minutes or until loaf test done and the top is brown and crusty. Turn loaf out of pan onto cooling rack and brush top with margarine.
