Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. |
| 2 |
In a mixing bowl, combine the first flour ingredients, mixing well. |
| 3 |
Add the egg and beef broth, mixing well. |
| 4 |
Sprinkle the remaining 1/4 cup flour on a breadboard. Roll out the dough in the flour until it is 1/4 inch thick. |
| 5 |
Use a 1-inch cookie cutter to cut out the cookies. |
| 6 |
Place the cut-out cookies on a greased cookie sheet. |
| 7 |
Score all cookies with a sharp knife, creating a + on each cookie. |
| 8 |
With a spoon, carefully drop a few drops of beef broth on the top of each cookie. |
| 9 |
Bake for 8 to 10 minutes or until the bottoms of the treats are just turning golden brown. |
| 10 |
Remove from the oven, let cool thoroughly, and store in an airtight container. |
| 11 |
Serve as a 1-inch cookie or break each cookie into four pieces along the scored lines. |
| CRUNCHIER TREATS: |
If your cat loves crunchier treats, when all the cookies have been baked, turn off the oven. Place all the cookies back on a cookie sheet and return them to the oven. Leave the cookies in the cooling oven for several hours or overnight. |
| CHICKEN COOKIES: |
If your cat loves chicken, substitute chicken broth for the beef broth. |
| BACON COOKIES: |
If your cat loves bacon, use water in the recipe instead of beef broth. Prior to baking, dip a few drops of bacon grease on the top of each cookie. |
| TUNA COOKIES: |
For tasty tuna cookies, use the water drained from a can of tuna packed in water in place of the beef broth. |
| SALMON COOKIES: |
For a salmon-loving kitty, use the juice from a can of salmon in place of the beef broth. |
| LOW-SALT BOUILLON COOKIES: |
For cats who must adhere to a low-sodium diet, use low-salt bouillon (beef or chicken) in place of the beef broth. |
