INGREDIENTS:
2 cups whole wheat flour, plus extra for rolling 1/2 cup rye flour 1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder 1 egg 1/2 cup safflower oil
2 tablespoons chicken broth 2 (2.5-ounce) jars of chicken baby food FOR THE EGG WASH: 1 egg
pinch of salt

1 Preheat the oven to 375 F.
2 Combine the flours, baking powder, and garlic powder in a large bowl. In a smaller bowl, beat one egg. Add oil, broth, and baby food to the egg and blend together. Add this mixture to the dry ingredients and mix with a spoon, then knead to incorporate all the dry ingredients. The dough will be soft and somewhat oily. Turn out onto a lightly floured surface and roll out to 1/4-inch thickness. Cut into shapes with cookie cutters and place on a baking sheet covered with greased or non-stick foil. Beat the other egg and add a pinch of salt. Brush a little of the egg-and-salt mixture on top of each cookie, to make an attractive glaze. Bake for 15 to 20 minutes or until the tops brown. Store in the refrigerator in an airthight container.
