INGREDIENTS:
4 eggs, beaten 3 cups milk 2 cups sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt 1 (12-ounce) can evaporated milk, chilled 1 tablespoon vanilla extract



1 Combine eggs, 3 cups milk, and sugar in a large heavy saucepan; cook over low heat until mixture thickens, stirring constantly. Remove from heat; cool.
2 Stir salt and remaining ingredients into egg mixture. Pour mixture into freezer can of a 1-gallon hand-turned or electric freezer. Freeze according to manufacturer's instructions. Let ripen at least 1 hour before serving.
