| INGREDIENTS: | ||
| 1/4 cup shortening | 3/4 cup sugar | 1 egg |
| 1 cup sour milk or buttermilk | 2 cups flour | 1 tsp soda |
| 1 tsp salt | 1 cup bran flakes | |
| 1 | Blend shortening and sugar. Add egg and beat well. Stir in sour milk or buttermilk. Sift together flour, soda and salt. Blend into first mixture together with bran flakes. If desired, add 1/2 cup nuts with dry ingredients. Spread in loaf pan. Bake in preheated 350 F. oven about 50 minutes. |
